You may say, "But, I have little faith." Well, at least you have faith. Use the faith you have. Your faith is not to be in faith, but in God.

So, there are at least three basic qualities of the inner disposition of true Prayer - and we could, of course, give more:
1) A Loving Humbleness
2) A Wakefulness of Heart and Mind
3) A Trusting In
Certainly, you may feel at times struggle in true Prayer. You may feel Prayer is not working. You may feel God is absent. You may feel confusion and doubt. Yes, I have felt, and at times do feel, these.
Molinos offers encouragement for those seeking the inward way - and this applies generally to all true Prayer in Spirit - and find they are struggling:
The Lord is calling you to walk by faith in His Divine presence. With a simple vision of your Lord and with intense love toward Him - like a little child would have toward its mother - cast yourself into the gentle bosom of your Lord. The spirit should become like a little child, and a beggar, in the presence of God.
Such a relationship with your Lord - especially in times of perceived failure - is easy. It is also the most secure relationship you can enter into with Him.
QUIETLY RESPONDING
Spend time reflecting prayerfully upon humbleness, sobriety, and trust as they relate to your life with Christ.
Blessings! Rev Dr Brian K Wilcox May 6, 2009
